The birth place of Gautam Buddha is Lumvani. It lies in Rupandahi district in western Tarai. There is the temple of Mayadevi temple, Maya devi is the mother of Gautam Buddha.Emperor Ashoke From india visited Lumbani and erected a stone pillar in 249 B.S. to make the birth place of Gautam Buddha. It is called the Ashole pillar.
